Dwell Time
Dwell time is the amount of time a reader spends on your post before scrolling away. LinkedIn's algorithm treats high dwell time as a signal that the content is valuable, which increases distribution. Long posts, carousels, and content that prompts reflection naturally earn more dwell time than quick-read listicles.
Example
A post that opens with a mystery ('Three years ago, I made a decision I still can't fully explain. Here's my best attempt:') creates dwell time by making the reader read more slowly, re-read, and linger. Stories outperform bullet lists for dwell time because the brain processes narrative differently than information.
